Connective Tissue Massage
Connective tissue is a web like fiber in our bodies known as fascia. Fascia is composed throughout our entire body acting as a binding agent which fills the space between bone, muscle, ligament, nerve, etc., and plays a significant role in dictating our body structure. This technique is used to release holding patterns within soft tissue by redirecting, sculpting, and molding our fascia to restore optimal alignment within gravity while regaining mobility, and relieving tension.
Your therapist is trained to listen with their hands to how, and where your body is responding and is then guided to those areas which are ready to release. In working with connective tissue, your therapists’ hands sink to the exact point of your bodies allowance obtaining the capability of reaching the deepest layers of your tissue. Along with achieving an extremely relaxed state of being, your body may also feel more aligned, lengthened, and restored to proper balance.
Your Lymphatic system is directly responsible for the elimination of all waste in our bodies. Lymph is everywhere, and it’s system is of the most delicate- noting the “pressure” used to perform this service is very light. (So much so, that it has been perceived as being ineffective.) However, its profound results are particularly helpful for those who live with fibromyalgia, who have compromised lymphatic systems due to removal of lymph nodes, or experience lymphedema, and whos’ immune system is impaired . Lymphatic Drainage massage shows high success rates in overall wellness through its well studied techniques and has the best results with a fully hydrated system to better equip the body in removing waste. By cleansing this system, you are creating clear pathways for toxins, edema, waste, and anything else your body does not need to be flushed free from your system (much like clearing a clogged drain pipe).
Neuromuscular Therapy (NMT)
This service is excellent for injuries and areas of discomfort caused by overuse and repetitive motions to certain muscles/muscle groups. NMT works with the insertion and attachment points of your musculature for the release of tension and chronically contracted muscles which have remained in fixed positions over extended periods of time and have begun to lack range of motion. There will be static pressure applied to specific locations on your body aimed at stimulating the muscle(s) to release. You will be in frequent communication with your therapist for this service and guided through breathing, and breathing with movement. You may be asked to engage your body by verbal directions from your therapist, as well as movements of your body which may be performed by your therapist. This method is commonly used not only in massage therapy, but also in the offices of occupational therapy, physical therapy, chiropractic, as well as many other pain management centers world-wide.
Deep Tissue Massage
This massage is used to target stubborn knots, impingements, and “locked” muscles that cause nerve pain or chronic tightness/ soreness. We will use a visual assessment and R.O.M. (Range Of Motion) test to pinpoint the specific muscle group(s) causing your discomfort, then apply various techniques to correct them by working deeply within your muscle structure. This is focused work, and just because we are working deep within the tissue does not mean it has to be a painful process. We are effectively able to penetrate deeply into layers of muscle/tissue without inflicting pain.
Pre/Post Pregnancy Massage
It is an honor for us to work with expecting mothers, and understand the importance in alleviating discomfort and perhaps newfound aches and pains. We use a side lying positioning system propping your body with pillows to ensure maximum comfort, and also to anatomically align your body within gravity for the ease of natural movements to take place. You will have the option to use a specially designed pregnancy bolster which allows you to lie face down with the safety and comfort to both you, and your baby. Our therapists are trained in both pregnancy and post pregnancy massage, and look forward to the pleasure of working with both of you.
Please mention the number of weeks you are pregnant at the time of booking your appointment so we are best able to accommodate you.
For the safety of your developing child, we do not offer massage during your first trimester unless specifically prescribed by your doctor, or cupping services throughout the entirety of your pregnancy.
